I’ve always been drawn to things that spark creativity and I thrive when I can let my imagination flow. I am a born & raised Minnesotan who is forever drawn to the water. I am a sketchbook collector, ocean lover, and will forever love being a barefoot child in the rain. I pull inspiration from all around me and am particularly drawn to the way light dances its way through nature — whether it’s a show of northern lights painting itself across the sky above or the way sunlight breaks through the surface of the sea below, there is magic throughout this world if you just keep an eye out.

I grew up visiting family in Duluth and spending time at our cabin just north of town — ultimately leading to moving up here in 2012 for college and I’ve been in the area ever since (aside from my travels sprinkled throughout). I find endless inspiration for my work living around Lake Superior and its ever-changing landscapes.. Whether it’s a handmade cribbage board for a cozy cabin night or a flowing watercolor scene, the way in which I create each piece by hand lends each to be its own unique work of art.

North Country Craft itself came to be what it is somewhat by accident but I’ve been running with it ever since. Cribbage is something I grew up playing (as many Minnesotans do) and one random night in October 2015 I made myself a cribbage board. By September of the following year, North Country Craft officially found its beginnings as a side gig — making cribbage boards in the evenings and mailing orders out during my lunch break between my study abroad office and radio station jobs. March of 2017 I officially put in my notice and by May I was fully self-employed.

From my beginnings selling online through Etsy to art shows to branching out into the world of wholesale, I love to bring joy to people through my handmade creations. I never would have expected cribbage to become my favorite canvas to work, but I absolutely love it. It allows people to incorporate art into their everyday lives as a form of functional art. In a world that is so fast-paced and full of people often distracted, I love how cribbage is something that brings people together for those simple moments and memories like cabin weekends and rainy day games.
